“Let Your Light Shine – Linen Ministry at Love, INC.”

Writer: Pastor AdamPastor Adam

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

- John 1:5

These past weeks in worship and in our weekly articles, I have been considering the ways that God shines through me, the way God shines through people around me, and the ways that the light of Christ shines through our congregation and ministries into the world around us. The “Linen Ministry” (a program of Love, Inc.) is another place where this is happening on a weekly basis.

Did you know that the Linen Ministry at Love, Inc. is organized and staffed by volunteers through First Presbyterian? Dottie Pugsley, FPC member, is the director of this program and organizes volunteers on a weekly basis to carry out the work. Approved through the Love, Inc. intake process, participants can receive needed household items, specifically linens, blankets, pillows, towels, shower curtains, and more. The opportunity to move into a new residence and have so many of these essential items is a blessing.

Not only does the program provide these material goods, but volunteers have the opportunity to share Christ’s love with participants as they hear their stories and extend Christ’s love into their lives in these very simple ways. In 2024, the Linen Ministry at Love, Inc. received requests for linen, for more than 500 individuals in the community. Items were distributed to families at the Love, Inc. building or delivered to families at their homes. These contact points provide volunteers with a chance to meet with families, discuss their lives, and pray for their needs.

The Linen Ministry, through the ministry of Love, Inc., and directed by volunteers from First Presbyterian is a tangible way Christ’s love moves through God’s kingdom in Rapid City. The ministry is often in need of donations of goods to be distributed and welcomes volunteers with varying levels of commitment. If you would like to learn more, you can contact our church office or contact Dottie directly. Christ’s light is bright and it is breaking into our world through the love of people like you, “until all things are made new.” I hope to see you soon.

Very truly,

Pastor Adam
