Christ is risen! He is risen, indeed.
Greetings, reader! Easter blessings and Alleluia to you and your family!
This past Sunday, we celebrated the great miracle of our faith. Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, faced suffering, betrayal, and death…but that wasn’t the end of the story. He didn’t stay dead. The tomb was empty! During this season of the Sundays following Easter, we will turn our focus on the ways that Jesus shows up. We will pay attention to accounts of people who saw Jesus.
Have you ever seen Jesus? In some ways it’s a simple question. From a different perspective it can turn into a deeply complex metaphysical, theological, or spiritual conversation. There are many ways that a faith-filled disciple of Jesus could choose to answer the question:
Yes, I’ve seen Jesus.
Yes, since all humans are created in God’s image, I encounter Christ every day.
I’ve had experiences where the presence of God felt so real, and so close, I know that Jesus was there. I saw him.
No, I wasn’t alive on the earth 2000 years ago and I’m pretty sure Jesus ascended into heaven following the resurrection, sometime in the first century.
I don’t know if I’ve seen Jesus. I’m not exactly sure what to look for.
How would you answer the question? Shoot me an email to adam@fpcrc.org and tell me the story. Better yet, let’s sit down and talk together. There are times and experiences in my life when I feel like Jesus was right there with me. There have also been other occasions when I wanted or expected to see Jesus and I was disappointed.
What about you? Have you seen Jesus? I can’t wait to hear about it.
Very truly,
Pastor Adam
